That’s what a recent audit of the Wisconsin sex offender registry found. Four sex offenders listed the same address of licensed child care providers. In two of the cases, officials said the addresses were mismatched. In the other two cases, the sex offenders lied about their addresses and listed a relative’s address.
The secretary for the Department of Children and Families said none of them were actually living at the residences. And the law was followed, the spokesman said. But state lawmakers said these may be problems that are just now coming to the surface. And some are calling for the secretary’s resignation.
Questions about registered sex offenders have been raised in several other states after some were found to be living in home with children while others have disappeared. Many states are considering additional changes to their sex offender laws next year.
